Fatigue is a common issue on a day to day basis. We have all had that night of poor sleep with the miserable day that follows. The problem is when does it become a medical issue? When do you go from a day of being very tired to an actual illness?
It is an issue when it interrupts your routine and daily life. Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) are medical illnesses that share many common features. Everyday fatigue may exhibit many of the same features and may actually be an undiagnosed FMS or CFS. I have had patients that were so tired that they couldn’t get off the couch for months on end. Other patients of mine had to take a nap during lunch time work break and then go home after work and go to bed right away.
